  • sinking

    the inability to feel
    the beauty of a sunset
    or feel calm when evening
    peacefulness
    is laid before you
    lets you know that
    the sinking feeling of
    depression
    has a foot hold
    pulling you under and
    making even the smallest
    hope
of a better day so far away
    that nothing will let you
    escape from the tyranny of
    despair
    There's no middle ground
    you understand or you don't
that without hope there is no
    tomorrow
    and without help
    you'll find with the sunrise
    just another
    today
  • walking into 2014

Come walk with me, and learn to live
As we go through this year.
Come walk with me and learn to laugh
    With joy and without fear.
Come walk with me and learn to love
Unselfishly as we teach each other
to love as we have never loved
And laugh as only joy can give.
Come walk with me, let's learn together
To savor each moment we live.
  • pointed life

    hanging on to life
    the way it was
    at some point in time;
who gets to choose the point?
    creating life
    is more than the result
    of intimacy experienced
    at one appointed time.
    life is not a line,
    starting and stopping.
    circling without end,
there is no point at all.
    growing life
    should be our daily task
    in a world where death
    seems to be the point.
  • contentment is the key

    To unlock the chains
    That have me fettered
    To this complicated life

    If only I had searched
    Many years ago
I would have found this key
    Where I have been

Under a rock near the shore
Or in a tree on the hillside
In the middle of a grassy plain
Or on the path leading to the park
Inside one of my children’s books
Or held in my mother’s hand
Inserted in the lock on my front door
    Ready to be turned

I could have seen so much
Of life that has passed me by
    As I rushed headlong
    In my race to become

    All the time, I was
    And I didn’t know it
    Underneath it all was
    The life simple
  • how do i love you…

    ...let me count the ways:
I love you by listening more and talking less.
I love you by giving more and taking less.
I love you by whispering more and yelling less.
I love you by serving more and lounging less.
I love you by smiling more and frowning less.
I love you by praising more and mocking less.
I love you by playing more and working less.
I love you by agreeing more and arguing less.
I love you by trusting more and fearing less.
How do I love you, let me count the ways...all my days.
