  • dear st. patrick

    We need you in America
The land now full of snakes
    Too late we may realize
    What will be lost
    When the snakes have done
    Their worst

    We need a St. Patrick
To rid us of the snakes
    Who will that be?
  • loose faith

    Maybe I’m bad at spelling
    But the idea
    Of loose faith
    Is something ever so
    Appealing
    Dropping the leash
    Let go of the reigns
    Open my hands and
    Let faith free
    From my grasp
    It goes where it wants
    And flies to the sky
    To find nothing
    And everything
    As it should
    I didn’t lose my faith
    Just let it loose
    It found the way
    A path
    To return home
  • good measure

    You can’t measure a person
    by their character
    by their faith
    by their stature
    the way they express themselves
the good they do for others
    You can’t measure a person
    by their honesty
    by their goodness
    by their giving
the level of hope they have
the amount of grief they’ve endured
    You can’t measure a person
    by their friends
    by their grudges
    by their money
the love of family in their heart
    the moments they missed
    The only
    good measure
    for anyone
is how much you’ll miss them
    when they’re gone
  • st. paddy’s

“Kiss me, I’m Irish, it’s lucky you know”,
Is not something I’d normally say.
Though it is funny and almost all true,
My Grandma Gaghagen would not approve,
    Except on Saint Patrick’s Day.
So kiss me, I’m Irish and lucky to be,
We can wish all our problems away.
Let’s open Kilbeggan and lift up our glasses,
We’ll toast all the Irish ‘til we fall on our arses.
    Sláinte! It’s Saint Patrick’s Day!
  • i’ve got to…

That’s how it starts, the spiral down
An eye twitch that begins slowly
    The notice to your body
    That anxiety is here
    Taking over today
    Every thought
    Sinking

    I’ve got to…
